Day 16 Fort Nelson, B.C.

I woke this morning and looked out the window, and yes, it was raining. It was 5:30 a.m. so I hoped it would stop. When I went to lay down, the verse, And on the seventh day He rested, popped into my head. Was this the way God was going to get us to slow down? I freshened up, made coffee and woke Tracy. It was now 8:30 a.m. and the weather wasn't going to clear. I opened the door and the air was frigid. We discussed staying the day and resting. It didn't take much convincing on either part. We ate breakfast and returned to the room. Tracy gathered up the laundry, then we headed for the spa and pool. Twenty minutes in the spa was heaven, every inch of my body felt like Jello. We took a swim and Tracy played on the large water slide. We came back to the room and I napped as Tracy made a necklace. Around 3:00 p.m. we went to the restaurant in front of the Hotel, ate lunch, then ordered dinner to go. Pizza for dinner. Sitting in the restaurant we reflected on the town. Every parking spot was taken last night but now they are empty. The town consists of a small sub development , several large motels, three restaurants and a couple of gas stations. There are a few business spread throughout, but they are far and few between. The majority of it's revenue comes from the tourists and miners. In the evening, the parking lots are full of dirty pick up trucks with four wheelers in tow. The traffic was slow and mundane. Motor home after motor home passed in both directions. Semi trailers inched through the town and the occasional car could be seen. Everyone has a goal, some White Horse, Yukon, and others all the way to Alaska. People are friendly and very mindful of the tourists. Our receptionist, Lee, was wonderful and very helpful. She will be in our prayers. The parking lots and roads are muddy from the pick ups coming down from the mountains. It seems to us that Fort Nelson it a town to hang your hat for the evening, get up early and head to your next destination. We are going to call it an early night and a very early morning. Our goal is White Horse, Yukon. The ride is 690 miles. The weather looks good for the next several days. With the lack of the sun setting we can ride the 690 miles if the weather cooperates.
