Day 9 Salt Lake City, Utah
Greeting everyone. We want to thank everyone for their comments and we encourage you to continue. It gives us strength knowing you are with us. This morning we left Wellington, CO headed for Denver to another Harley shop. The couple we met last night told us there was a dealership 10 miles down Rt. 25. We decided to stop there instead. The view of the Rocky Mountains was beautiful. You could see miles of snow covered mountains as the sun light them up from behind us. We shopped then headed north for Salt Lake, Utah. Our goal was to get there by 4:00 p.m. before the dealership closed there. We headed up Rt. 25 back to Rt. 80. We thought the view from Fort Collins H.D. was beautiful but as we traveled into Wyoming it got better. Once again the weather was perfect for riding, just a bit cold in the mountains. The first stop for fuel we put on our rain gear for warmth. We were riding the great continental divide, we saw The Grand Tetons and Yellow Stone. What a magnificent view. They were no longer in the distance, we were riding through them. At one point our elevation was 7800 ft. above sea level. Words and pictures do no justice for the view. You have to see it to really appreciate it. The rocks looked like they were hand carved to perfection. God is an artist. Red stone mixed with snow covering portions of the tops. Grass lands with antelope, cattle, and sheep littered the landscape. Wyoming was a pretty state but Utah blew it away. Once again, when we thought we had seen Gods most be beautiful work of art, He throws us another. More mountains filled with snow, many mixtures of colors, and sand. When we pulled into Provo, UT a lake reflected the grandness of the mountain tops the temperature was 85 degrees and the sun was shining. We arrived in Salt Lake at 5:00 p.m. The dealership was closed. We ate dinner, then our plans changed. Tracy and I had had enough riding for the day but Steve wanted to ride till dusk. My eyes were crossing and needed rest. Steve and I discussed our ride plans and decided to part ways. We pray that he has a safe journey and we ask everyone to include him in your prayers for traveling mercies. Tracy and I contacted a friend from back home that now resides here. Dougie was only a mile away from where we were (how great is our God? Salt Lake City is a large metropolis). We rode to Doug's apartment and spent time with him. It was really nice to see him. We got a motel a mile away and arranged to have dinner together tomorrow. Doug wanted us to stay with him and we appreciated his offer but we needed some down time alone. We are now relaxing and discussing where we will attend church in the morning. There are many faiths in this area so we may just find a nice park and have a bible study together. Peace be with everyone and God Bless.
